Nearly 10 million children could be forced out of school forever because of poverty caused by COVID-19..

We are convinced that misfortune and poverty leading to lack of education leads to loss of opportunities where individuals would have utilized their God-given abilities for personal improvement and for the good of society in general. There is a lot of wasted talent in Africa, because the talented people are often denied the chance of putting their abilities to full use.

Millions of children around the world are denied an education simply because of who they are or where they live – and the ongoing pandemic has only worsened their circumstances.

  • Nearly 10 million children could be forced out of school forever because of poverty caused by COVID-19.
  • Without access to education, children struggle to escape the cycle of poverty and are at dire risk of early marriage, forced labour or gender-based violence.
  • Girls are likely to be much worse affected than boys by the impacts of being out of school.

The idea is to provide them access to the best institutions available until the Taasa Orphan Program is able to build some of our own institutions. So far we have had tremendous success in caring for and shaping the lives of many talented young people that are now contributing to the betterment of our society. Our wish is that this great work the Lord has started does not stop here but is carried on everywhere.

Without access to education, as shocks are experienced – including loss of life, health impacts and loss of livelihoods – children are more vulnerable and unprotected. As household finances are being strained and needs increase, out-of-school children are more likely to be exposed to risks like family violence, child labour, forced marriage, trafficking and exploitation, including by responders.

For the most vulnerable children, education is lifesaving. Not only does it provide safety and protection, importantly, it also instils hope for a brighter future.
